Something about celebrating

Something about celebrating

God is good. He is SO good. He is generous. He is loving. He is an abundant Father whose face shines upon us.

Today, this exclamation springs forth from the depths of my soul. Everywhere I look, the world is tinged with joy and I can see so much promise and beauty in everything. It’s a gorgeous day, and just this morning I received some happy, much-anticipated news that makes my heart sing praise up to the heavens.

“Clap your hands all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy”. (Psalm 47:1)

The reason for the celebration in my heart and soul comes from the graciousness of our God to answer prayer, as His word says that He is faithful to do. I understand that not all prayers are answered as we would like at times, and yet in this instance, the answer has been exactly what our hearts were hoping for, praying for, indeed even begging for.

A very special little girl who I’ve had the privilege of knowing since my little girl started kindergarten with her 4 years ago, had a health scare late last year that resulted in fervent prayer, tears, searching of scriptures and hand holding in hospital rooms and school courtyards.

Prayer threads were busy online, text messages flew and friends gathered to pray for this little girl, a beautiful little 8-year-old girl. Invasive tests were conducted, risky brain surgery was performed, hospital miscommunications abounded, recovery was up one minute and looking shaky the next. Through it all, her family, friends and school community held fast to the promises of God for her.

Romans 15:13 says: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Hope and prayer and the graciousness of God prevailed and just this morning, I went to the movies with this little girl and her amazing mum, and just as the movie was about to start, a message came through giving her the all clear on the brain issue that had started it all. It’s all gone, the surgery was a complete success and she can now get on with the job of being an 8-year-old girl.

Praise God for his goodness, graciousness and for this answered prayer.

“Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.” (Isaiah 12:6)
